05.2023 | Banananamekuji toy

Lately i got a funny toy in form of a cheese and when you press it, a mouse will jump out. The toy was made out of silicone components and i wanted to make one of these toys myself. I decided to make the toy in form of a Banananamekuji(バナナナメクジ) or in english "Banana slug", which should then jump out of an apple.

At first i made a PLA mold existing of several parts.

After the forms were ready i mounted them together and filled them with the specific silicone mixes. As the apple part and the slug part must have differend strength's i ordered different silicone types with shore 35 and shore 0.

After coloring the silicones and mixing all together i was ready to create the silicone parts.

Finally after waiting about 1 day i demoulded everything and then glued the parts together. I used some special silicone glue at first, but that did not work as expected. So i sticked to normal superglue (Cyanacrylate) with a pre treatment of plastics primer. After that it all stick together. The image below is not glued together yet but you can imagine the final product.

After the toy was ready i designed a small wrapper for it so it looks like a real product you could by in the supermarket (in japan :D).
